What is green wood? Hardwood that is freshly cut, 35-45% moisture content.
What is partly seasoned hardwood? Firewood that's been cut and split for at least 2-4 months, 25-30% moisture content.
What is seasoned hardwood? Firewood that’s been cut and split for at least 6 months, around 25% moisture content.
What is kiln dry hardwood? Firewood that’s been cooked in a kiln for 3-4 days at extreme temperatures, with lots of air. Moisture content below 20% which is the ideal burn. To legally sell kiln dry hardwood in Maine moisture content must be below 20%.
